Julia Dzafic (Lemon Stripes)
We recently spoke with Julia Dzafic known for her blog lemostripes.com about everything from fashion to food in Connecticut.
Local Connecticut: What is your favorite part of living in Connecticut, specifically along the coast?
Julia Dzafic: Being near the beach makes me so happy! I love the nights when Anel and I take a picnic to the beach at sunset on summer nights.
LC: Winter in Connecticut can be frigid, what fashion pointers would you give for staying warm while not sacrificing on style?
JD: Get a cute pair of winter boots (I love my Sperry boots) and a puffer coat that doesn't look like a potato sack. I just got one from J.Crew that is both stylish and super warm! And wear layers, always layers.
LC: What's your favorite restaurant in state and why?
JD: My husband and I love going to The Whelk in Westport, CT. The food is incredible and the ambience is perfect! We try to go at least once a month. Their sister restaurant, Kawa Ni, is also incredible.
LC: You're looking to go somewhere fun for the day with kids, where are you going?
JD: In the summer, we love to go to the beach. All year round, we like to visit Grace Farms. In the winter, my daughter loves Stepping Stones Children's Museum.
LC: If you could choose one day trip in state what would it be?
JD: For myself, a spa day at The Mayflower Grace in Washington, CT. If my daughter is coming along, then a day in Mystic, CT!
LC: If you could give advice to a local CT resident about exploring their own state what would it be?
JD: There is so much to see, so get out of your town and out of your comfort zone!
