Fall Outfit Ideas
Hi! My name is Christina and I write over on my blog Christina on the Daily. I write a little
about everything including home decor ideas, style, motherhood, and wellness. My husband Jeff and I live in Connecticut with our 2 year old son, Cameron.
I really enjoy sharing outfit ideas on Instagram @christina_onthedaily. I often share try on
videos in my stories to show how outfits can be put together! I am excited to share some of those fall outfit ideas with you today. I have organized the post by first naming the individual items and then sharing how I would put them together as an outfit. I have given some of the outfits a name but you can really adjust them to your personality and style!

Fall is a transitional time here in New England. We have said goodbye to summer days but the
weather can be tricky. Some days are cool and crisp and others feel like summer. I have put
together a list of items I love to wear in the fall. These items can easily go together and become interchangeable to create new outfits for casual day or weekend wear.
I love mixing cozy textures with classic pattern. I think many of these items could already be in
your closet and maybe my outfit ideas will give you a fresh perspective on them! Below I am
showing you ways I have put together each outfit along with a little description.
Outfit 1: casual date night out
ITEMS: Skirt with striped top and cardigan
Outfit 2: day trip
ITEMS: cardigan with distressed jeans
Outfit 3: Easy weekend
ITEMS: thermal with jeans and slip ons
+ throw on the cardigan for cooler days or nights
Outfit 4: Comfy 7 cozy
ITEMS: joggers, jacket , tee
Outfit 5: Casual weekend
ITEMS: jacket, jeans, top
Outfit 6: "Dressed" down
ITEMS: Dress, leather jacket, mules
The THIRD PIECE rule
The THIRD PIECE rule isn’t really a rule but more of a layering idea. Your top and bottom are
considered the first and second piece and anything added would be your third piece (e.g a jacket or cardigan). This third piece can often elevate your outfit and make it more cozy, sophisticated or stylish. I love that many of the third piece items above ( green jacket, vest, cardigan) can be interchangeable with a lot of the base outfits (the first and second pieces like tops and jeans).
All of these items are made to mix and match. The jeans can go with almost all of the tops. The skirt can be paired with almost all of the tops and layering items (cardigans or jackets).
This is a great time to look at your closet and find items that go well together. This is called a
“capsule” style wardrobe . Simplifying your closet and having a select amount of items that you wear often and together interchangeably makes getting ready faster, easier AND fun!
I am very intentional with the items I buy as opposed to a few years ago. I invest in the items I
know will last and I’ll wear season after season. Buying items that can be worn multiple ways
with multiple things saves on cost and time! If you were unsure of how to make your clothing
items work hopefully now you feel a little more confident about dressing.
